NATO leaders from 32 countries gathered in Washington this week to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the organization. With renewed vigor since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, NATO has bolstered its defenses with increased military and financial support for Ukraine, despite it not being a member of the organization. The summit aimed to showcase unity and strength, but internal political challenges in the United States, potential presidency uncertainties with Trump, and divisions within European countries pose risks to transatlantic relations. However, with more members meeting the 2% defense spending target, NATO aims to establish a new command center in Germany to coordinate security assistance and training for Ukraine, addressing concerns if U.S. assistance to Ukraine were to halt.
