On July 3, Japan officially launched a new version of the Japanese yen banknotes with updated designs and new 3D anti-counterfeiting technology. Despite the issuance of the new banknotes, the old notes can still be used indefinitely, even making them more convenient for travelers. However, due to delays in updating machines, some places like a famous ramen chain in Tokyo are not accepting the new banknotes, leading to inconveniences. Authorities are also warning about potential scams related to the new banknotes.
