Niantic Inc., the creator of the popular augmented reality game Pokémon Go, is in discussions to sell its gaming division to Scopely Inc., which is owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, for approximately $3.5 billion. The deal could be finalized in the coming weeks and would include the Pokémon franchise along with other mobile games. Despite the success of Pokémon Go, Niantic has faced challenges in replicating that success, leading to staff cuts and the cancellation of several projects.
