In a recent ruling in Germany, Nike has partially won an appeal allowing the use of three stripes on some trouser designs, overturning a previous ban by the Duesseldorf regional court initiated by Adidas in a trademark violation lawsuit. While Nike can now feature the stripes on four models, one design's ban remains intact. Adidas, known for vigorously protecting its iconic triple-stripe trademark, had also recently withdrawn a legal challenge against Black Lives Matter's similar logo. Nike argues Adidas' trademark protection is too narrow, asserting that striped designs are not exclusive to any particular brand.
