Reported about 1 year ago
Nintendo confirmed earlier this year that all Nintendo Wii U servers would be shut down, ending online multiplayer services, and recently announced the complete termination of Nintendo Wii U repair services. This decision comes after a previous announcement in May that maintenance services for the product would be ending once the inventory of repair parts runs out. The Nintendo Wii U, launched on December 8, 2012, as a successor to the Nintendo Wii, failed to gain market popularity and developer support, leading to its discontinuation in 2016 following the release of the Nintendo Switch. With a relatively short life cycle and sales of only 13.56 million units, the Nintendo Wii U was overshadowed by the success of its predecessor, the Nintendo Wii, which sold over 100 million units.
