Novatek Continues Expansion of Arctic LNG Plant Despite Sanctions

Reported about 2 months ago

Russian gas producer Novatek is pushing forward with the expansion of its Arctic LNG 2 plant amidst Western sanctions. A second production train has approached the site, with hopes to begin operations in late 2024 or 2025, despite logistical challenges posed by the sanctions which have previously delayed shipments. The project aims to bolster Russia's position in the liquefied natural gas market as a means to offset reduced piped-gas flows after its invasion of Ukraine.
