The Ruifang Police Bureau in New Taipei City dismantled a scam group led by Wu and Jiang, who used hotels as bases to detain individuals to access their accounts and transferred them to other scam groups for profit. Following a report from a victim in March 2023, the police traced and arrested the main suspect Jiang and mastermind Wu along with 14 others, all of whom are being prosecuted. The group's fraudulent activities involved deceiving 32 victims in various cities, with losses exceeding 140 million NT dollars, including using a false investment scheme featuring financial expert Xie Jinhe. The police advise job seekers to be cautious of high-paying, no-experience-required offers that may lead to exploitation and to verify job opportunities to avoid falling victim to scams.
