Huang Kuo-chang, the convener of the people's party caucus, stated today (July 1, 2024) that a proposal will be made to invite Lai Ching-te to the Legislative Yuan for a national report on July 12. The amendment to the Legislative Yuan’s exercise of powers law has caused division between the ruling and opposition parties. Despite previous reservations from the Presidential Office about the necessity for the President to report to the Legislative Yuan, Huang Kuo-chang emphasized the legal obligation for Lai Ching-te to address the legislature according to the Constitution and Legislative Yuan’s laws.
