Protecting Land Crabs with Safe Passageways in Tamsui River

Reported about 1 year ago

In response to urban development along the Tamsui River in New Taipei City, the Coastal Administration and Wild At Heart Association have collaborated to set up Tamsui and Bali Friendly Crustacean Passageways during the land crab breeding season to prevent them from crossing roads directly, ensuring the crabs can safely return home. This initiative has shown success in reducing roadkill incidents and guiding crabs back to their natural habitat. Public are advised to slow down while cycling along the Tamsui and Bali cycling paths to protect the crabs from accidentally crossing the roads.
