Lebanon's caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade revealed that the nation's political class, fuel companies, and private electricity providers obstructed an offer by Qatar to construct three renewable energy power plants, aiming to alleviate Lebanon's enduring electricity crisis. Despite the worsened electricity shortage due to the economic crisis, Lebanon did not respond to Qatar's 2023 proposal to build 450-megawatt power plants. The Lebanese government's failure to address the crisis leads to extensive power cuts and reliance on costly private generators, with limited solar power utilization due to cost and space constraints.
