Residents Accuse Taipei City of Low-price Land Acquisition for Binhai Sewage Plant

Reported 8 months ago

On the morning of June 18, 2024, over 20 members of the Binhai Sewage Treatment Plant Self-Help Association raised slogans and protested the Taipei City government's large-scale land acquisition for constructing the Binhai Water Resources Regeneration Center. Residents are discontent as the government is using acquired residential properties for tree planting, leaving them homeless, and offering lower acquisition prices compared to 7 years ago. The association urged the withdrawal of the acquisition notice. The government planned to acquire 45 remaining parcels of land as part of the regeneration center's project, with some landowners strongly opposing due to unjust procedures and minimal impact on the center's development, hoping for housing justice and revised planning.
