Russian Warships Showcase Military Power in Havana, US Says No Regional Threat

Reported 7 months ago

Russian navy vessels visited Cuba, docking in Havana Harbor on June 12th local time, with the US closely monitoring their movements and stating it does not pose a regional threat. The four warships, including the nuclear-powered submarine 'Kazan,' a frigate, and two support ships, are equipped with hypersonic missiles, cruise missiles, and anti-ship missiles. The display of military power by Russia in such proximity to the US is seen as a strong message. The warships also conducted weapon exercises in the Atlantic Ocean en route to Cuba, with the docking point just 145km from Florida and 160km from the closest US Navy airbase.
