Benefiting from the strong sales of flagship AI smartphones, research firm TrendForce reported that Samsung has surpassed Apple in global first quarter smartphone brand production market share, reclaiming the top position. The top six global smartphone brands were Samsung at 20.1%, Apple at 16.2%, Xiaomi at 13.9%, OPPO at 11.4%, Transsion at 10.1%, and Vivo at 7.3%, collectively accounting for nearly 80% market share. Samsung's growth was attributed to robust sales of AI smartphones, while Apple saw a decrease of 39% compared to the previous quarter. Xiaomi, OPPO, Transsion, and Vivo also experienced varying declines or minimal growth. TrendForce predicts Samsung's production to decline in the second quarter, while Apple's production is impacted by sales decline in the Chinese market. Xiaomi's production ranked third globally in the first quarter, with OPPO, Transsion, and Vivo following in the market rankings.
