Many young people are choosing to 'lie flat' in their daily lives due to intense life pressures, with 398,000 young people in South Korea in May this year neither working nor seeking employment, marking the highest number since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Factors contributing to this trend include economic pressures, challenging job environments, and societal expectations. The phenomenon is not unique to South Korea, as similar trends among the youth population are observed in China as well.
