On June 27, 2024, North Korea test-fired a missile, with South Korea assessing the test as a failure while North Korean state media claimed success. Amid ongoing provocations from North Korea, South Korea resumed sea-based live-fire artillery training on a northwestern island, targeting GPS signal interference and missile threats from North Korea. This marked the first sea-based artillery exercise in nearly 6 years and 10 months, following the suspension of the 9/19 military agreement.
