A mother and daughter in Kaohsiung both experienced bunions, with the mother and daughter having undergone corrective bone surgery due to the pain and swelling caused by the bunions. An orthopedic doctor mentioned that 70% of bunions are hereditary, and other causes include flat feet, ligament laxity, and rheumatoid arthritis. The doctor emphasized that wearing high heels only exacerbates the condition rather than being the main cause. Conservative treatments are recommended initially, with surgery considered if symptoms persist and significantly impact daily life or when the angle of deviation between the big toe and the second toe exceeds 25 degrees.
