The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute of Sweden released a new report on June 18, 2024, stating that mainland China is expanding its nuclear arsenal at a pace faster than the rest of the world and has for the first time included nuclear warheads in regular deployment. The report estimates that 24 nuclear warheads have been used in intercontinental ballistic missiles. The report also highlights increasing tensions in regions like the Korean Peninsula, India-Pakistan border, and between the US and China, leading to potential nuclear threats. Despite ranking third with 500 warheads, China has shown the fastest expansion rate globally.
