On June 13, 2024, at 6:25 PM, a conflict broke out between Taipei Metro police officers and a homeless man at the Jingmei MRT Station on June 12. The homeless man, surnamed Lin, had a dispute with station staff over occupying a charging area, leading to the altercation. When Officer Yu arrived at the scene, he was verbally abused and provoked by Lin, losing control, hitting Lin's head, and pushing him to the ground, causing a heated debate online. Following an investigation, it was revealed that Lin is an unemployed homeless individual who often occupies the charging area at the station. The police stated that Officer Yu will be held accountable for his actions, and they will address both his excessive use of force and Lin's verbal provocation and attacks according to the law.
