Taiwan Minister Promises Standardized Contracts by July to Prevent Landlords from Overcharging Electricity Fees

Reported 9 months ago

During a recent legislative session, Minister of Interior Hsu Kuo-tai promised that the standardized residential lease contracts, including regulations regarding electricity rates, will be finalized in July to prevent landlords from overcharging tenants for electricity. The Ministry of the Interior had announced in April to amend the regulations to prohibit landlords from billing tenants at rates exceeding the current electricity prices, ensuring that the total electricity fees per period do not exceed the total amount stated in the rental electricity bill. Minister Hsu confirmed that the deadline set for July will be met, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding tenants and youth by addressing this issue promptly.
