Taiwan's Minister of Education, Zheng Ying-yao, stated that in response to Taiwan Power Company's decision to cancel electricity price discounts for colleges and universities, the Ministry of Education will include the difference between Taiwan Power's costs and electricity prices in the budget for the 114th fiscal year to alleviate schools' financial burden. Zheng emphasized the importance of efficient use of hydroelectric power as a collective effort for schools. Taiwan Power clarified that the electricity price discount for eligible entities, including schools and social welfare groups, will continue as regulated by law, with the responsible authorities instructed to budget for these subsidies.
