Taiwan's annual Pacific Bluefin Tuna season from April to July will see a fishing ban starting from midnight on June 12th. This year marks a bountiful harvest in the past 15 years, with the accumulated catch of Pacific Bluefin Tuna reaching 90% of the international quota, causing surprise among fishermen. The sudden ban is expected to drive prices up in the market with top-grade tuna fetching nearly 600NTD per kilogram. The ban aims to regulate the fishing and protect the abundant tuna population.
