Taiwan's Summer Hotter with Fewer Typhoons Predicted by Meteorological Bureau

On June 24, 2024, the Central Weather Bureau stated that there have been only 2 typhoons in the northwest Pacific Ocean so far this year, which is lower than the average of 43. The bureau estimates a 'normal to below normal' number of typhoons in the latter half of the year for Taiwan. The summer temperatures in July to September are expected to be above normal to normal, with rainfall ranging from normal to below normal. The bureau warns of potential extreme heat and ongoing precautions against typhoons and summer thunderstorms.
