As COVID-19 cases continue to increase, the Department of Health Tainan City Government reported a rise in local confirmed cases with complications by 93 cases last week (June 23-29), a 21% increase from the previous week. There were 11,310 emergency room visits last week, a 23% increase from the previous week, totaling 92,649 visits this year, with 995 severe cases, where 81% were above 65 years old. With the sixth wave of the pandemic, health officials advise individuals to self-screen for fever at home before going to clinics to reduce wait times, and prioritize going to clinics for minor symptoms to avoid overcrowding in hospitals. The city emphasizes the sufficient supply of COVID-19 medication and calls for implementing a triage system and enhancing hospital infection control measures.
