Former Taoyuan Mayor and Chairman of the Taiwan-HK Economic and Cultural Co-operation Council, Cheng Wen-tsang, was arrested for suspected corruption in relation to a land development case in the Hua Ya Science Park during his tenure. Allegedly, landowners bribed Cheng in order to include their agricultural land in the urban planning project. The investigation is ongoing to clarify the details of the case and the potential implications of the corruption charges against Cheng.
