Thiago Braz, the gold medalist in pole vault at the Rio Olympics, has been suspended until the Paris Games.

Reported 4 months ago

Thiago Braz, the Rio Olympic pole vault gold medalist, has been suspended through the Paris Games after testing positive for a banned substance last July. The Athletics Integrity Unit announced a 16-month suspension for Braz, backdated to the start of his provisional ban for the presence of ostarine glucuronide. Despite arguing that he was not aware of using the banned substance as it was provided by his nutritionist for health reasons, the AIU found Braz at fault for not being more cautious in his trust of his medical team. The majority of the tribunal panel determined that Braz acted with "no significant fault" and with a "normal" level of negligence.
