The UK economy experienced zero growth in April, following a rainy month affecting retail sales and construction output. Service output grew by 0.2%, while production fell by 0.9% and construction by 1.4%. Economists attributed the slowdown to the persistently wet weather, causing sectors like retail, construction, and pubs to suffer. This stagnant growth poses a challenge for political parties, particularly for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's hopes of economic recovery ahead of the general election on 4 July.
