US Delegation Meets with Dalai Lama, Tibetan Exiles Urge Beijing to Resume Talks

A bipartisan US congressional delegation met with the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India this week while the prime minister of India, Modi, also hosted the US officials after the meeting. Tibetan exiled government official, Lobsang Sangay, revealed in an interview their attempts to engage in dialogues with Beijing through informal channels since January last year but without progress. The delegation's visit and the passing of a bill in the US House aimed at promoting dialogue between China and Tibet have irked Beijing, with experts analyzing the geopolitical implications of the US-India-Tibet interactions on China-India relations and the Tibetan issue.
