The US Department of Transportation fined Middle Eastern airline Emirates $1.8 million for flights passing too low over Iraq from December 2021 to August 2022, violating FAA restrictions. The fine involved a significant number of flights, and Emirates had a similar violation in 2020. Emirates and JetBlue Airways had a code-sharing arrangement, allowing JetBlue to sell seats on Emirates flights as their own. If Emirates complies with US restrictions for a year, $300,000 of the fine will be dropped.
