US Jobless Claims Rise, Yet Layoffs Remain Low

Reported about 1 month ago

US applications for jobless benefits increased by 11,000 to 219,000 last week, indicating a rise in unemployment claims. Despite this, the labor market remains robust with historically low layoffs and a strong job growth rate, as employers added 256,000 jobs in December 2024. The overall employment situation is still healthy, although some companies have announced job cuts in 2025.
