Taipei City Councilor Li Jianchang of the Democratic Progressive Party recently blamed the lack of tourism in Hualien on public boycotts against Kuomintang legislator Fu Kun-chi and Hualien County Magistrate Xu Cheng-wei, sparking criticism. Vice President Sheila Xio appeared in Hualien today to support party members, emphasizing that Hualien needs warmth now and should not be viewed from a political perspective. Xio thanked Japanese friends for their support in post-disaster recovery and tourism activities, hoping to attract more Japanese visitors to Hualien. Despite Li Jianchang's subsequent apology, the Vice President stayed out of harsh criticisms.
