As COVID-19 cases surge again, Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that this wave of the epidemic will peak earlier in mid-July. Experts warn that with the emergence of virus variants, individuals over 60, those with chronic diseases, pregnant women, and vulnerable populations are at high risk for severe cases and require enhanced care. The CDC reports a significant increase in patients at hospitals and clinics, with the dominant variant being JN.1 followed by KP.2. Recommendations include increased monitoring for high-risk groups and the importance of prompt testing and treatment for any respiratory symptoms or suspected infections to mitigate the strain on healthcare facilities.
