A woman named Wang, described as a 'matured woman,' sat in a priority seat on a train in Taoyuan in September 2022. An elderly man named Li also sat in a priority seat nearby, insisting Wang should sit in a regular seat as she was young. An argument ensued, with Li insulting Wang, leading to a public insult lawsuit. Despite Li's argument that his words were hypothetical, the judge ruled in favor of Wang, stating that priority seats are for those in need and not just for the elderly. Li, who claimed to be legally knowledgeable, was fined $6,000 for public insults but could appeal.
