On June 17, 2024, Democratic Progressive Party legislator Shen Boyang expressed his views on the amendment of the Parliament Power Exercise Law. Kuomintang legislator Wang Hongwei pointed out the emergence of the Democratic Progressive Party's 'New Three Treasures,' including non-partisan Taoyuan City Councilor Yu Beichen, DPP legislator Shen Boyang, and DPP Policy Committee Executive Director Wang Yichuan. DPP caucus secretary-general Wu Siyao responded by suggesting that it is peculiar to refer to Shen Boyang, Yu Beichen, and Wang Yichuan as the new three treasures, as the term 'Three Treasures' should be used for the Kuomintang's new rookie legislators instead. Wu praised the expertise of Shen, Yu, and Wang in various fields and their ability to communicate correct information to society, causing pressure on the opposition party. Wang Hongwei welcomed the DPP's 'New Three Treasures' to continue speaking out across Taiwan, suggesting their speeches would be nothing more than jokes.
