According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, pancreatic cancer has been the leading cause of death for 42 consecutive years, with the highest increase in deaths and mortality rates. Dr. Lin Xianghong, Director of the Heshin Minquan Health Management Clinic, warns that pancreatic cancer is increasingly affecting younger populations globally, with an alarming 80% mortality rate due to the difficulty in detecting early symptoms. The number of deaths and mortality rates related to pancreatic cancer have increased by 57.4% and 57.5% respectively over the past decade, with the condition moving from the 8th to the 7th leading cause of death. Dr. Lin emphasizes the importance of early detection and urges individuals with symptoms to seek medical attention promptly, especially those in high-risk groups such as individuals with a family history of the disease, smokers, alcohol drinkers, obese individuals, and patients with diabetes.
