A man surnamed Li from Yunlin purchased over 300 boxes of avian influenza vaccine from Taobao since February, totaling over 3,000 bottles, and sold them to large breeding farms in Yunlin and Chiayi. However, self-administration of avian influenza vaccine is prohibited in the country as it can lead to virus mutation and outbreaks. The Yunlin District Prosecutors Office has filed charges against Li. The investigation uncovered over 1,000 bottles on-site, but more than 2,000 bottles had already flowed to the breeding farms. Li made a profit by buying each bottle at $550 and selling them for $700. Using unauthorized vaccines can result in fines from $60,000 to $300,000, with repeated offenses facing even heavier penalties.
