Authorities were alerted and worked to clear the debris from the drainage system to alleviate the flooding, as the Meteorological Observatory issued heavy rain warnings for Miaoli, Taichung, and Nantou mountainous regions on June 23rd.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, but a McDonald's in the Hualien city area had its entrance door rail damaged by the earthquake, making it unable to close properly. Surveillance footage also captured pets being disturbed by the shaking, with a small dog waking up and barking loudly. Although there were no further reports of casualties or property damage, this earthquake was identified as an aftershock from a previous earthquake in Hualien.
