Mountain Climbing Influencer Couple Drowns Trying to Save Fellow Climber

On July 17, 2024, a popular international mountain climbing influencer couple tragically drowned while climbing in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The Japanese husband, Ito Tsubasa, was swept away by the strong current while crossing a river and his Chinese wife, Aguri, jumped in to try to save him, resulting in both of them drowning. The couple, who were well-known in the outdoor sports community, got married in February last year and met their untimely demise during a climbing expedition on June 29th, where they were found 5 hours later downstream wearing life jackets but unable to be saved. Their bodies were discovered approximately 300 meters away from the incident site by rescuers.
