The typhoon season is approaching in July, with a tropical disturbance 98W spotted southeast of the Philippines moving rapidly towards the north. Experts discuss the probability of it developing into a typhoon and its potential impact on Taiwan. The disturbance is expected to cross the Philippines on Thursday and continue moving north along the high-pressure edge on Friday and Saturday. However, due to unfavorable environmental conditions and its fast movement, the chances of it strengthening into a typhoon are deemed slim. While directly threatening Taiwan is low, there is a possibility of residual cloud systems bringing some rain to the central and southern regions over the weekend.
