According to a report by Hong Zhengda on June 28, 2024, X, a male owner of a used car dealership, and another dealer named Wang in Kaohsiung collaborated in a fake insurance scam, fabricating multiple false car accidents and thefts over two years, acquiring over 30 million NT dollars. X was initially sentenced to 7 years and 2 months in prison, but upon appealing, his sentence was increased to 7 years and 4 months by the Kaohsiung High Court for aggravated fraud. Wang, the accomplice, had fled and was currently wanted by authorities. The case involved over 10 individuals, with varying sentences from 10 months to 4 years and 2 months, some of whom received probation for pleading guilty. The case is open for further appeal.
