On July 2, 2024, the Criminal Investigation Bureau busted a drug trafficking group that used regular mail instead of packages to import drugs from the Netherlands to Taiwan. They recruited part-time workers online to help receive the mail with the promise of up to 50,000 NT dollars as payment. The drugs were then distributed across Taiwan by the group, leading to the arrest of 6 suspects, including a car dealership owner who hid drug-filled envelopes in scooter compartments for extra income. One of the main perpetrators confessed upon police investigation, revealing the elaborate methods used such as hiding drugs in abandoned scooters and even in a restroom at Shanjia Train Station in New Taipei City. The trafficker used Telegram to contact sellers in the Netherlands, bought drugs, and sent them in plain mail to avoid detection. The arrest of 4 men and 1 woman, aged 30 to 45, including a 35-year-old scooter shop owner turned accomplice, highlighted the extent of the drug trafficking network. This case underscores the dangers of drug trafficking and the importance of vigilance against such criminal activities.

The report exposed that oil tankers often load coal-based oil without washing, followed by loading soybean oil, posing serious food safety concerns. The lack of regulation in the industry allows for this practice, with drivers opting not to clean the tank to save money, leading to potential risks like contamination with toxic chemicals.
