Starting from July 1st, 2024, Changhua County Environmental Protection Bureau has strengthened garbage classification and inspections, returning entire trucks of refuse if 12 or more recyclable items are found in the same bag, resulting in 7 trucks being returned on the first day of the new measures. Meanwhile, in Taichung, cleaners were caught accepting illegal household garbage for a sum of NT$1,000 to NT$2,000 per truck, with collaboration from the illegal waste removal companies, who transported the garbage to the incinerator. This illegal activity was detected by the Environmental Protection Bureau in Taichung. Increased inspections in Changhua also found violations of recycling rules, with plastic cup lids and aluminum foil packages being disposed of improperly, resulting in whole trucks being returned.
