A Taiwanese fishing boat from Penghu, the Da Jin Man, was captured by the mainland Chinese coast guard while fishing for small pipes off the coast of Kinmen last night. The captain and five crew members were taken to the Weitou Port in Fujian and have been out of contact since. According to the Taiwan Affairs Office, the boat violated the off-season fishing regulations and was engaged in illegal trawl operations, thus they were dealt with according to the law. Relatives of the captain are worried about his medical conditions and lack of medication. The incident has caused concern as in the past, Taiwanese fishing boats were only chased away by the Chinese coast guard, but this time the captain and crew members were detained.
