In a tragic incident, a woman surnamed Jian (34 years old) from Zhonghe, New Taipei City, got into an argument with her husband and in-laws on the morning of July 2nd. Out of anger, she took her 10-year-old and 8-year-old daughters to Bitan to commit suicide by jumping into the water. While the daughters drowned, Jian managed to swim ashore, waited until around 8 p.m. today to report to the police station after failed attempts to find them. The police immediately dispatched a search team and recovered the bodies of the two children in the evening. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
