The yen continued to weaken, reaching 38-year lows against the dollar due to the significant interest rate gap between the U.S. and Japan. However, the Chui Mama Foundation expressed that while setting the electricity fee at the maximum limit may not be illegal, the cost is clearly overcharged. The Ministry of the Interior's Consumer Protection Commission will implement a new version of the 'Residential Lease Agreement Template,' restricting landlords from charging electricity fees exceeding the 'average electricity price per period' or 'total electricity bill for the period.' This regulation aims to prevent landlords from overcharging tenants for electricity, with the new system expected to be effective in mid-July.
