On June 26, 2024, at 7:05 AM, a driver of an SUV in Hsinchu City crashed into a bridge pier for unknown reasons at around 4 PM while passing through the northbound entrance ramp of the Hsiangshan Interchange. The SUV's front end was severely damaged due to the impact, trapping the driver inside. Despite efforts by emergency responders to rescue the driver using cutting tools, the driver was already lifeless upon being extracted. With no identification documents found in the vehicle, the driver's identity remains unclear.
