Yesterday (7/1), a 49-year-old man surnamed Du drove a Mercedes-Benz and crashed into the Presidential Office. He lives in Banqiao District, New Taipei City, comes from an affluent family, and was wearing designer clothes at the time of the incident. Du drove a Mercedes-Benz with protest graffiti to AIT (American Institute in Taiwan) and the Presidential Office for protest, and later rammed into the flower bed in front of the Presidential Office. He was brought in for questioning by the police and has been sent to the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office for charges of endangering public safety and obstructing official duties.
