On June 25, 2024, at 10:27 PM in Taichung, a 60-year-old man was rescued by firefighters after being trapped in an underground drainage pipe. The man had been stuck for 5 days and was found weak but conscious. Speculations suggest he accidentally fell into the drainage pipe and got washed into a narrow and dark channel. Firefighters had to drill through the road surface to reach him and successfully brought him to safety after nearly two hours of rescue efforts.
