A Taiwan Railways new Taroko Express train was hit by a mudslide near Huatung in Hualien this afternoon, stopping inside the Cingshuei Tunnel, injuring the driver with a broken hand, and 8 passengers lightly. Passengers described the experience of being thrown around inside the tunnel until the train finally came to a stop. The train, delayed for over 2 hours, carried 525 passengers who were later refunded. The injured were sent to hospitals, while the remaining passengers were transferred back to the station for further arrangements.

A woman in Wufeng received a video call from a scam group promising huge profits through investing in stocks via an app. When she sought verification from the police, officer Huang Keyuan took the call instead. The scam group immediately hung up but managed to obtain Huang's photo. The next day, they created a fake image to continue their scam and retaliate against the police for stopping their deception. Wufeng police are tracing the IP address and warning the public not to fall for it.

Due to intense convective cloud systems in the afternoon, heavy rainfall is affecting Taiwan, with landslides occurring in Hualien area.
