The U.S. Federal Supreme Court unanimously ruled on June 13th to protect women's continued access to the oral abortion pill, marking the first major decision on abortion rights since the Court's ruling two years ago to terminate constitutional protection for abortions. Following the overturning of the Roe v. Wade law, the Biden administration took measures to expand access to oral abortion pills, allowing them to be obtained from certified retail pharmacies. Anti-abortion groups and Republicans have tried to restrict the use of oral abortion pills, leading to a legal battle that was recently resolved in favor of continuing pill availability. President Biden stated that this ruling does not change the fact that Roe v. Wade was overturned, and he pledged to ensure that women in every state can access necessary health care and urged Congress to restore protections for women as per Roe v. Wade's decision.

The university admissions results were released on June 13th, causing a mix of emotions among students. This year, there were 78,000 applicants for a total of 55,000 admission spots, with a 52.61% acceptance rate. The shortage of 11,000 students will continue preparing for the July admission process. Due to influences from Huang Renxun, AI, and the semiconductor industry, there is a noticeable trend of 'hot demand for science and engineering, cold for humanities and social sciences' in this year's admissions. National Taiwan University, National Cheng Kung University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Chiao Tung University all had admission rates above 80%. However, humanities-based National Chengchi University had a lower admission rate of 67.92% compared to 73.98% last year. The implementation of the Ministry of Education's 'Private University Tuition Reduction' policy has increased competition in private university admissions. While private universities in urban areas saw an increase in admission rates, public universities in remote areas experienced a decline. The declining birth rate and current industry trends are causing universities to put more effort into student recruitment.

According to FSC statistics, credit card spending in the first four months of this year reached 1.4072 trillion yuan, an annual increase of 15.18%; April's single-month spending was 359.7 billion yuan, up 24.46% from the previous year, setting new highs. The increase in spending was attributed to increased travel, shopping, and e-commerce during the Qingming Holiday in April, while the deferral of insurance payment processing for two banks from March to April also contributed to the surge in credit card spending. With 32 credit card issuing institutions, the total number of circulation cards is approximately 58.97 million, with a monthly increase of 60,000 cards; the total number of effective cards is approximately 38.12 million, with a monthly increase of 160,000 cards. The average active card rate reached 64.64%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points. FSC emphasized that as people are increasingly accustomed to using credit cards for payments and transactions, coupled with economic recovery post-pandemic and an increase in domestic and international travel, the credit card spending has been on the rise. Last year, credit card spending exceeded 4.186 trillion yuan for the first time. Whether this year's total credit card spending will set a new record is subject to economic conditions and ongoing observations.
