A major accident occurred at the level road of National Highway No. 10 Ligang Interchange in Pingtung's Ligang Township on June 14, 2024, at 9:49 am when a sand truck making a turn was struck by a construction vehicle running a red light, causing severe damage to the construction vehicle's front end and trapping 3 people. Emergency services rescued the victims, leading to 1 fatality and 2 injuries. The driver of the sand truck, a 46-year-old man surnamed Lai, was turning left to enter the interchange, while the 58-year-old driver of the construction vehicle, surnamed Li, was proceeding straight from west to east on the interchange, resulting in a collision at the intersection. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
